A panel is the web interface that allows you to control the app or make changes like DNS URL's. Most apps that have a panel will allow you to change the DNS at any time so your customers don't have to download a new app. Some allow for multiple DNS's if you sell multiple services and some even allow for you to send notifications or updates through the panel. You do have to host the panel on your web server and thing point the app to your panel URL for it to work.
